Overall, a collectible and presentable copy of this book not price clipped, not remaindered, and not ex-library in a protective Mylar cover and will ship in a sturdy box. Housed in a clean and bright very good or better dust jacket that shows some mild rubbing and chipping to the spine ends and corners, a couple of tiny tears to the top edges of the panels including one approximately 3/4" tear to the back panel along the spine fold, and some age-toning to the top edges. This copy is in very good condition with a square, tight binding, dark blue lettering over clean red boards, and clean pages throughout with just a hint of foxing to the edges the book also shows some rubbing at the ends and edges, some light spotting to the exterior text block, and a previous owner's name to the front free paper. A handsome copy of this delightful epistolary novel, a correspondence between the author and a London bookshop somewhat scarce in the first UK edition. In the 1940s and ’50s she wrote plays and television scripts in New York City, but found little success until her best-known book, 84, Charing Cross Road, was published in 1970. First UK Edition A Very Good book in a Very Good dust jacket. Helene Hanff (19151997) was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
